Chelsea Blows Off 9-Year-Old

OK, despite my political leanings, this is next story is just absolutely wrong.

From Vinton, Iowa, The Associated Press says that Chelsea Clinton turned down a question from 9-year-old Sydney Reickhoff, a fourth grader from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who happens to be a kid reporter from Scholastic News. You know that newspaper thing that we had to pay $1.25 for a years worth of a newspaper like thing in elementary school.

It is policy for the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign to turn down interview requests for Chelsea, but you would they would be a little bit nicer towards kids. Chelsea to Sydney, "I'm sorry, I don't talk to the press and that applies to you, unfortunately. Even though I think you're cute."

Sydney's mother is still going to caucus for the former first lady, liking her positions on health care and family values and above all "...it's time we have a female president."

Yah! It's time we have a female president, even though she dissed my daughter who wanted to ask a light hearted beach ball of a question.

You have to remember that the Clinton's are famous for protecting Chelsea, who was ages 12-20 when No. 42 was in office, and rightfully so because she was basically a kid for much of that era. I would think that the fact that Chelsea is an adult, not only would she be smart enough and strong enough to deal with the press, but she could take a few secs to answer an EASY QUESTION.

Then one has to wonder, what is the Clinton campaign worried about. Are they afraid the first question out of a reporter's mouth is going to be about Monica-gate? If that's the case, then Clinton's camp can set parameters. It is done for a lot of big interviews, why can't they set any for Chelsea, especially when you consider that they were set for Jenna Bush for her book tour.

A nine-year-old isn't going to know what was going on during that time anyway, just tell her whether you think your dad will make a first good gentleman, Chelsea.

For the past three years, I have blogged somewhat using blogger. I say somewhat because my post in the beginning were ho hum and not being written that often. I also started Maryland Politics Today by using blogger. Sometime in the middle of this year, I started exploring the potential of giving MarylandPT it's own home...it's own universe where I will not be limited under google's draconian rules. Yes, I do know big words.

So through the good graces of Globaltap Corporation, I established MarylandPolitics.us using a program called WORDPRESS. I was rather impressed with the program in regards to simpleness and ease, as well as layout. This is completely the opposite of when I was putting a layout together for this blog. The part I liked was how I was able to match the layout of the website, the part I hate was the hell I went through in trying to customize it. Well, NO MORE I Say...no more.

2008 is the 10 year anniversary of KENNYBURNS.COM, and as part of the year long festivities, I will be launching Kenny's Blog 2.0 in the next couple of weeks. You can still access it via KENNYBURNS.COM, but you will be able to reach it through it's own world...blog.kennyburns.com.

Blogger has served well and will still be online as an archive, but I wil primarily blog through what is now truly, my OWN blog.

The Woman Who Kept BET...somewhat relevant

Arlington, Va. -- Hello from across the river in Rosslyn...

I am just finding out from Richard Prince's Journal-isms that Deborah C. Tang, the founder of BET News had died of Cancer on Christmas Day at the age of 60 here in Capital City.

Ms. Tang was the one who put Tavis Smiley and Ed Gordon on the air. The she was the person who was trying to keep a balance amidst the booty shaking/borderline pornography videos. Many of which were on for 12-16 hours a day.

I hope someone from What About Our Daughters is reading this, because I would like to point out in the article that she was the one fighting Robert Johnson (and not Viacom) about showing the other side of African-Americans and keeping them well-informed. Remember folks, it was Johnson who killed off BET News and the former Black Newsmagazine "Emerge" and not Viacom.

It's not just WAOD, I am just calling them out by name because they feel that they have accomplished something back in July by forcing BET to change the name of their show based on a website Hot Ghetto Mess for starters. Did I mention that the website was started by a Black Female Lawyer?

I thought it was insane for them to claim victory (along with the secret order of Black people who really picked up the cause.) So I commented on this story (which you can see down the page...

"My, oh my. Keep fighting, but do it at home and shame your friends into cleaning up their own images.

It's called personal responsibilities. The media is not the end all to making black people look bad. Black people, make black people look bad. So you accomplished watering down Hot Ghetto Mess, a show I admit I have not seen. The overall grand scheme of things is that once again, the "Secret" Fraternity of Black People have once again won out, by keeping the "secret" under wraps. You know the secret that there are Black people who don't take pride in themselves and don't mind looking foolish.

Instead of going after BET, go after each other and say, "You look foolish, change your image." Having one show watered down does not win the war. The war will be one when Black people look at themselves and take some pride in their appearance, but they will have to realize that on their own."

Now here is the response from g-e-m2001:

"P Kenneth, thank you for your comment, but we have moved on here. I am sure the folks over at that website that will not be named on this blog will be more than happy to discuss this.

I never had a problem with the purported message or even having a discusison about these images, I had a problem with the minstrel show set up that BET created. My objections always were and will continue to be context. THAT and the fact that the website is an abomination.

All I ever said was that advertisers shouldn't pay for what BET had planned to show."

It's nice to see that they moved on...18 minutes after my comment posted. It's nice to see the double standard in the above statement. I do realize that this was months ago but two things. I want to contrast between Ms. Tang who stood up to Robert Johnson and the woman in the above response to my comment.

WAOD and the other groups who have jumped on the Secret Order's bandwagon in protesting BET should be ashamed. Not because they are protesting...but they are protesting easily a decade later.

I find that the protests taking place outside of Debra Lee's home are more opportunistic than anything. I also think it's hypocritical for these groups and anyone that jumps on the bandwagon to protest BET.

When Johnson started to fold BET's news division and fold Emerge these groups should have been at the forefront of the protest, but instead, they stood by silent. They have forfeited the right to say anything about what BET does with it's businesses. Just because a white company owns BET, does not restore that right. BET has been doing this for years and everyone who is protesting now was sitting idly by allowing this stuff to be aired.

As a matter of fact, BET closed down their news division twice within the past decade, once under Robert and again under Viacom (and they had support from CBS News), yet these people remained silent.

So don't look for me to jump up and salute these pointless protesters. I will salute Ms. Deborah Tang because she stood up to Robert and told him NO and held him to some sort of standard among the booty videos.

The Beauty of a Song, Found Two Months Later

OK, so Labor Day Weekend, I was going through Delaware on my beach run when I do what every other normal radio geek does...check out which stations I can get along Route 1 between Lewes and Rehoboth. Overall, you can get the signals that cover Delmarva along with stations from South Jersey, a couple of Philly signals sneak in as well.

I trained in on one signal that I believe was from New Jersey. I tell you know lie, it was one of the most beautiful CCM song I had ever heard. BTW, CCM is your Christian Contemporary Music. Right before I had a chance to hear who did it, the signal faded as I was heading into Dewey.

Fast forward to last night when I was training for WAVA. I was talking to the FM host and I happen to have heard the same song. I grabbed the song and the artists while it was playing on air (God bless the computer age.)

Unfortunately, the kind folks at Napster did not have the song available, HOWEVER, the person who performed the song Crystal Lewis posted the video on You Tube. She also was on Nickelodeon way back when on a little show called "Roundhouse."

Onley: No Boundaries

Unless you're Canadian, you have never seen this man before. He is now His Honour, The Honourable David C. Onley, the Lt. Governor of Ontario.

Mr. Onley has had the interesting life. Before he became the Queen's representative in the province of Ontario, he spent 23 years as a broadcaster for CITY-TV (Channel 57) in Toronto. CITY are the call letters. In Canada, they begin with C. Before he appeared on television, he was a radio host for CKO and CFRB. He is also a best selling author for the book "Shuttle," which was published in 1981.

One thing that you will not notice in the picture is that Mr. Onley has a disability. He battled polio at the age of three causing full paralysis at first, but through extensive physical therapy, he regained limited use of his appendages. He is able to use his hands, and is able to walk with braces and special canes.

In typical fashion, I find out the news regarding His Honour yesterday, nearly two months after he was installed in his vice-regal position (thanks Kemi.) He was notified in July as he was driving home from work. As a matter of fact, he had just finished taping his weekly technology show when Prime Minister Stephen Harper called. Mr. Onley told his now former employer when his appointment was made public in an interview that, "I just had reached the top of the Don Valley Parkway ... and there was no place to pull over. When the Prime Minister of your country calls, all you can try to do is stay in the same lane, avoid any fender-benders and have a meaningful conversation, which I did."

Mr. Onley credits his Christian faith and his family support for his successes in life. This is a great story about someone (a Christian mind you) who did not allow an illness hold them back. Because of his faith, he became a best-selling author, popular broadcaster and now a government leader.

Memo to NABJ and NOW...YOU LOST THE IMUS FIGHT

(Arlington, Virginia) It's official. The fight being mounted by the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Organization of Women to keep Imus off the air has NO CREDIBILITY.

The first blow came earlier this week when the Rev. Al Sharpton said that he had no problem with an Imus return. This is more of a re-iteration of what he said this past summer. Now the second blow, last night on Fox News Channel's Hannity and Colmes, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said that he too did not have a problem with Imus returning to the airwaves because he believes in redemption...although he tapped dance around apologizing to the three former members of the Duke Lacrosse team who were smeared by him.

In any event, Imus is coming back to radio and hopefully, he'll replace those bimbos in the morning on FOX and Friends.

And in a somewhat related post to the topic of race relations, Eugene Robinson from The Washington Post a few days ago finally posted honesty about "Black America."

NABJ Continues To Party Like 1969

(Arlington, VA) -- Before I start let's establish the facts:

• Paul Kenneth Burns thought what Don Imus said...back in April 2007...about the Rutgers Basketball Team was absolutely stupid and insulting. She should have been suspended without pay and nothing more. He should not have lost his job.

• CBS Radio is infamous for encouraging the lowest common denominator. Firing Imus has not improved my life as a Black man...or anyone's life regardless of race. Al Sharpton should have been focusing his energy on cases like Jena 6 and the woman who was brutalized in West Virginia, instead of keeping busy keeping his name in the papers.

• Thank goodness that the Rutgers Basketball player who was planning on suing Imus withdrew her lawsuit. While Vivian Stringer was ranting over nothing, the team was the true highlight. They proved that they were far from what Imus called them (while he was being pushed by Bernard McGuirk.) This lawsuit was about getting paid, simple and plain.

• Jason Whitlock from the Kansas City Start was right in his commentary the entire time. What About Our Daughters on the other hand...

• Imus apologized and he had paid for his mistakes and then some and we should ALL move on. Imus is insignificant in general.

Unfortunately, the National Association of Black Journalists are not going to. For one thing, from a journalistic standpoint, there is no problem with expressing their opinion in an editorial. Unfortunately, they have crossed over into a realm where no journalist should be...making news. Their statement made news headlines, not their editorial.

Barbara Ciara (left) is an anchor for WTKR-TV (Channel 3) in Norfolk, Virginia. She is also president of the NABJ. Editor and Publisher reports that Ciara stated that Imus "used his free speech to broadcast hate speech," adding that for him to return to the airwaves "makes light of his serious and offensive racial remarks that are still ringing in the ears of people all over this country."

This is probably a piece that will probably cut any grace I have with the NABJ, but Ciara was wrong in that last statement. I had completely ignored the story after Imus was canned, but not only did the press recapped part one of the story, the NABJ reminded me of part two, which I thought was too much (the part where Shaprton and the rest of the people who prosper as poverty pimps call for Imus' ouster.)

On top of that, the NABJ now has no strength in keeping him off air, especially after Sharpton said that he had no problems with Imus returning to the airwaves. I have a feeling that Sharpton used Imus' firing as a way to pump his own name. In any event, NABJ should move on to examine issues that are really the problems with Black America like the breakdown of Black Families where there are no real fathers. Personal responsibility and realizing the fact that Tyrone should not be stealing from the corner store to support his family. I can go on, but my time is limited.

Burns to the National Association of Black Journalists...MOVE ON AND FOCUS ON REAL BLACK PROBLEMS, IMUS IS NOT EVEN A FACTOR!

Reality TV Close To Home

I am just getting into the "To Catch A Predator" series with Chris Hansen, especially since MSNBC is running the episodes non-stop, including the raw tapes of the investigation in which Hansen gives a commentary track to past investigations. I know what you are thinking, what type of sick person am I...I'm not but it's like a train wreck. It amazed me that these perv's know about the series and yet, they think it's ok to "play" with little girls....what a bunch of jackasses! I hope the prison justice system is much more harsh than the legal system. Remember, prisoners detest certain group of convicts and people that mess with children are one sect.

I remember recent watching the "raw" edition from when they set a sting up in Fairfax, Virginia while IMing with my friend Ada at the same time (she was watching too.) When they scared one perv off, the people involved with the sting (Hansen and Perveted Justice) was shocked that this dummy was back on the chat rooms trying to fool another teen girl into an episode. So Hansen and his crew setup shop at a McDonald's that was close by.

As Hansen was confronting this fool, I kept looking at the McDonald's and looking at the background shot behind Hansen and I quickly typed in the IM window talking to Ada, "I KNOW WHERE THAT IS!" She asked me where. Then I told her, "That's the McDonald's in Rosslyn!" She was like are you sure. I told her I was positive.

The significance in this is that YoungD.C., although located in Downtown DC, we would have our meetings in the Newseum Education Center across the river in Rosslyn (Arlington, Virginia.)

This is the background shot that was behind Chris Hansen. I mostly recognize it for the Quizno's in the background, along with the parking garage.

This is was a complete bindblower. If it wasn't for being a regular in the area for two years, I wouldn't have recognized it at all.

Alan Keyes Is Not Color Blind...Just Blind

WASHINGTON, DC -- I have just read up on the Republican debate that took plave up the road in Baltimore. By the way, I have to say that I am embarrased to be a Republican after Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney and John McCain did not want to attend. Let me give you an insiders edge, these guys do events and interviews a la carte. I gaurantee you they didn't want to attend last night.

I did not even know that Alan Keyes was running for president again. Which rock was this guy under? There's and interesting segway.

Here is where Keyes is a blooming idiot and why people do not take him seriously. He said "I don't believe there is this deep divide between blacks and whites in America." This man has got to be kidding me, especially since he divided himself from his own daughter.

In case Keyes was not paying attention, the Jena 6 case has divided that community in Louisiana. The White DA is pandering to his White constituency. For him to say race was not a factor in that case is a ball faced lie.

And then there's the Duke Lacrosse rape case where the DA was pandering to his Black constituency to the point he did a McGuyver in make something out of nothing.

These two cases highlight that race relations are still deeply divided and crappy at that. If anyone should know about a deep divide, it should be Mr. Keyes.

BET To Do Original Programming...so what

Hopefully you read The Washington Post this morning in which BET is going to launch a number of programs...original programs, 16 of them in fact this season. BET Chief Debra Lee said that they have a fatter bottom line to do this expansion. Lee contends that if Will Smith walked through the door a few years ago with a show idea that was "the greatest thing since sliced bread" and it didn't fit their business model, they couldn't do it.

This is a crock of bull. One of the biggest stars (let alone Black stars) in the world today has a great show idea and they would turn him down? That does not make sense because most networks would make the effort and toot their horn that a big star wants to put their idea on that network. Once again, BET is showing their ignorance when it comes to quality black programming which could have been done before Viacom bought it. Considering a few years ago, when Univision and Telemundo were spending money on original programming, many big markets (like in DC's case) weren't even on a full-powered UHF signal. As a matter of fact, they were barely on cable.

Now the other side of the arguments, my fellow critics who think that BET is perpetuating the stereotypes of the Black community. Well, it's true, but what do you expect for an ALL-BLACK TELEVISION NETWORK where 80 percent of the programming is not original. The same loudmouths who are criticizing the network are more than likely the same ones who do not support the non-music video/rerun programming. It is inexcusable that these people did not scream out when BET closed it's news department. Just like BET, the dissenters (and the secret order of black people) saw the money in Hip-Hop music and culture and went after it, but for the attention.

BET Programming Head Reginald Huddlin does not see the network being the PBS, NBC, FOX and MTV rolled into one for blacks, at least for a few years and that is sad. Personally, it should have been at this point by now.

So put the party favors away, and stop the protesting. This morning's article proved that BET has been running the show for 27 years and they will still decide what they want on their network and screw the critics.

What About Our Daughters has failed at getting "We've Got To Do Better" (aka: Hot Ghetto Mess) canceled. There is a report in the article that says that BET is considering renewing it for a second season. The show was originated by a website by a Black lawyer here in Capital City. She has every right to name that show whatever she wants and feature what ever she wants. She has the same first amendment rights to express her outrage at embarrassing behavior from Black people that the secret order does in protesting it. Sucks for the latter. Folks, how many more signs do you need, especially after the show still went on in some form after two advertisers pulled out.

GOP Snubs Blacks As Dems Snubs Whitey

Reading an article from The Boston Globe about how the four leading GOP candidates for President were skipping a forum being held just up the road in Baltimore being moderated by Tavis Smiley on PBS. The forum will be held at Morgan State University and will feature Sam Brownback, Duncan Hunter, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo. Also present, the four empty podiums for Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and John McCain. Those four cited scheduling conflicts. Yeah, sure. I am not surprised about this, nor am I surprised about the following story from Salon.com.

It's more of a blog posting from Thomas Schaller, who teaches at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He is encouraging the Democratic Party to snub White Men. Schaller's sub-headline, "Could 2008 be the year that Democrats finally admit an old sweetheart is never coming back, and stop pandering to the white male voter?"

Whatever happened to trying to get VOTERS? I would think after the last three decades, BOTH Democrats and Republicans would have learned their lesson when it comes to playing racial politics. If trying to unite America is important to both parties, then the GOP should go to Black and Hispanic voters in addition to White voters. The Democrats should go to White voters in addition to Black and Hispanic voters. In other words, go after the votes of qualified Americans.

Common Sense Has Returned....for a moment

(HANOVER, MD) -- Glancing over my usual sources for news it appears that common sense has returned to America.

The New York Daily News is reporting that Kia Vaughn, the Rutgers Basketball player who was going to sue Don Imus and CBS Radio along with any other media entity involved, is dropping her lawsuit. I want to know which idiot influenced her decision to sue in the first place. More importantly, who was the one to influence her to drop the nonsense because I want to shake their hand.

I hope someone came to her and said, "You don't need to do this, your reputation was not really damaged. If it was, it was repaired and restored in that long drawn out press conference responding to Imus' insane comments. Besides, you're trying to earn a journalism degree. You should know that Imus didn't have any power over you. You control your own destiny."

Maybe not the exact words but along those lines. I'm glad that she is taking her power back that she relinquished when she filed a lawsuit against Imus.

MTV Does Not Care About Kanye West

In case you missed it, Kanye West was shut out at the MTV VMA's this past Sunday. He was up for five nominations and got GOOSE EGG. That's right he didn't win and he was pissed.

According to the Associated Press, West threw a tantrum and said that he would never return to MTV. Kanye: ""That's two years in a row, man ... give a black man a chance. I'm trying hard man, I have the ... No. 1 record, man.""

Pardon my language, but what a whinny bitch! Does he realized Susan Lucci waited for at least a decade before she finally won. The times she didn't win, she handled it with class. I don't remember any bratty episodes with Ms. Lucci.

Then I wonder, if MTV is tired of this idiot's act. I just happened to be watching MTV this morning and they were playing Kanye West's "Stronger." And now the sad part....

They don't even call him "Kanye West" in the chyron, they referred to him as "Mr. West." I guess that it doesn't matter what they call him since he would never go on MTV again.

But now the opportunity that I have been wanting to take for a while...smack Kanye West. Kanye, maybe your music was not good enough. Maybe you are not trying "hard" enough. Maybe if you wasn't such a cocky A-hole, people would actually hear your talent as opposed to your mouth. And how about respecting the people who made a path for you to get your ungrateful butt to where it is. I saw you on "VH1 Hip-Hop Honors" and you were the only one not doing a tribute to an honoree. Your performance was so out of place it was ridiculous.

So you don't want to do MTV anymore, fine! I doubt that anyone would be hard pressed to want to watch you anyway, hoser.

It's Starting To Catch Up...

ARLINGTON, VA -- As I am writing this, I am in the middle of a successful implementation of updating the sounds of our network's baseball show.

There is a marked difference and I am significantly much more busier now between the hours of 4:00-6:00p on Sunday (that would be your 1:00p.m.-3:00pm pacific.) In any event, the show now has balls production wise. BTW, WTTG...way to rip off my music for promoting you 6:00pm newscast following a show that will probably be replaced by a Simpsons rerun by January.

Anyway, I was at work the other day sitting in an edit booth. I just happened to look at the calendar on my phone and realize...holy crap, I'm going to be 27 years old in a couple of months. Time to reflect....

Am I happy where I am at now....yeah, but not completely.

Any I anywhere near where I want to be...no far from it, but I am inching closer to it.

Do I have any regrets...don't we all. But all you can do is move forward. If I can find or see away to at least correct things, I would do that.

I might be getting older... maybe I am getting wiser. Am I maturing...that's questionable. So many questions, and so little time...literally. It seems that time is not just marching, but running literally. One that has been making the most sense as of late. Tomorrow never comes, especially if you are among the group that stays up past midnight for work or pleasure. BTW, you third shifters have my utmost respect, as someone who has done that for a year and a half and who did it for three nights earlier this year.

I know I had a very rough start this 26th year of my existence, but now is the time to finish strong...well, at least as strong as possible.

I Guess It's Time To Write Something For This Month

Greetings from the Burns Media Centre in Laurel, Maryland where it's time for me to write something for this month.

I do have some thought to get off of my chest, like to hear it...here we go.

In case you have not been reading my blog Maryland Politics Today, first and foremost, shame on you. Second of all, you should know that one of my contributors, Joe Albero, is being sure by the Police chief and Mayor of Salisbury, Maryland for the whopping total of $9,999.00. I am being told that $10,000 and higher would send the case to a jury trial. But I cannot help but to notice the similarities in regards to the damages sought and the fact that both Police Chief Alan Webster and Mayor Barrie P. Tilghman are using the same law firm. Something stinks about that in my book. It also proves that these two would not last in a bigger town than Salisbury if they are suing for defamation.

But then again, the mayor took time out of everyone's busy schedule to call attention to the blogs in addition to calling people who dissented from her city council dubbed the Dream Team, the "Dirty Dozen." That and the police chief is very unpopular. I would watch this case, just for the sheer tonight show material.

In other news, my trip back from the shore took longer than planned because of this:It's hard to tell with this picture but it was a bad accident in Trappe, Maryland where one person was killed. They had called two medevac helicopters to the scene. Then I find out this morning that the person who was killed was a student at UMES (University of Maryland Eastern Shore.) I read in The Sun this morning that she was on her way back to school from her home in Dundalk.

As much as it may look like we have no problem in reporting news like this, I can say without a doubt that there is no joy in doing this. As a traffic reporter, I am amazed at the number of times that I see accidents like this and think about the person involved. We do not like reporting stories like this, but sometimes you have to.

I also thank God that I have been kept safe on the roads through the number of times I have covered beach traffic as well as my normal beat reporting from the sky.

Finally, I promise that I will be writing more in this blog. This is basically a blog about my world. This is the blog where I will explain serious stuff and stupid stuff, I will flat out get it off of my chest.

Holy crap, it's getting late and I have to get up in the morning. Late.

Imus Mess Continues; The Victim Role Has Gone Far Enough!

I'm sorry but this is going to be the post that makes some Black women very very angry, but it has to be said.

First the happening from ABC News...Kia Vaughn, the star center of the Rutgers Scarlett Knights, is suing Don Imus for his insensitive and outright ignorant comment calling the team "Nappy Headed Ho's." She is not stopping at Imus, she is also suing CBS Radio, NBC Universal, MSNBC, CBS Corporations, Viacom Inc., Westwood One and, for good measure, Imus producer Bernard McGuirk. The very latter for the record was hired based on the "nigger jokes" according to a 60 Minutes interview from a decade ago.

Her attorney, Richard Ancowitz, told ABC in an exclusive interview that, "This is a lawsuit in order to restore the good name and reputation of my client, Kia Vaughn." The lawsuit alleges that use of the slanderous terms was intentional and motivated by greed and financial gain: In using insults against otherwise innocent people, Imus would get higher ratings, making more money for him and his employers. Among other infractions, the suit alleges that Imus violated the players' civil rights.

Look, I admit that Imus has stated something insensitive and stupid, but for what he said, hen should have been suspended without pay for a week him and McGuirk, with their return contingent on how fast they could have driven to New Brunswick, New Jersey. But of course that wasn't going to happen because the Rev. Al Sharpton saw an opportunity to get his name in the papers. Yeah, I said it. If anything, Vaughn should be suing Sharpton for victimizing her.

Sharpton, took up the cause of seeing Don Imus fired. Here is his basic formula:

White Guy Insults Black People + Media Exposure = Power

Sharpton did not pick up their fight because he genuinely cared, he picked it up because he is a poverty pimp who needed the power boost. I am sure of this, not only have those girls probably never heard of Imus, but they have some song with one of or all of the following words; bitch, ho, nigga, trick. Jason Whitlock had a point back in April.

I assure you that Vaughn, although I believe was insulted, is doing the lawsuit because of a third party. Thanks to Sharpton, she was not only portrayed as a victim, she accepted the mindset as one, which is sad. And now thanks to her, something that should of died back in April is going to be dragged out even longer.

Yes Imus shouldn't have said that comment. Yes CBS more than likely had no problems with anything Imus said. NO Imus should not have been fired and he shouldn't have been sued. This lawsuit is not about restoring anyone's good name. I never thought it was ruined in the first place. I believe that she was insulted. She cleared her name when Coach Vivian Stringer led them on a victim parade.

I am tired of my fellow black people playing victim. Imus did not have any power over that team, but thanks to Sharpton, Stringer and the Rev. Jesse Jackson, they gave it to him. Has anyone seen his ratings in DC? The religious station was beating him.

What I find even more insulting is that the group taking credit over changing the name of a BET show that was based on a website called "Hot Ghetto Mess," thinks this lawsuit is a good idea. A contributor to What About Our Daughters said that Vaughn is standing up for herself. She can call it what she wants, but the truth is she has fallen in to the victim mentality thanks to Sharpton. By the way, I am not a sexist. I am an Equal Opportunity Offender, there is a difference.

So get ready for another round of Black victimhood. A round that should not happen in the first place. Forgive means to let go, not hold on for the pay out. Stop giving insignificant crusty old White men - or anyone for that matter - power they never had in the first place. This lawsuit is nothing more than an attempt to cash in on victimhood and it's sickening.

DC to Cap. Hill....MIND YOURS

L'Enfant Plaza (DC) -- What does former Rep. Bob Barr (R-Ga.) and Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mi.) have in common? Well, it surely ain't their political philosophy.

They are apart of a list of Federal politicos who poke their nose in matters of local concern, not in their district but THE District.

Let's talk about Levin who thought it was more important for people from out of town who catch a cab in DC to have a meter as opposed to learning our zone system. It was so much more important the troops in Iraq, that he decided to hold up legislation giving control of DC schools to Mayor Adrian Fenty as a bully tactic.

This just another in a long line of bipartisan double standards when it comes to home rule in DC. It is a grave injustice that our leaders use DC as it's playground, making rules for DC residents that would have them voted out in their home districts.

For all intents and purposes, the senators and congressman are visitors. They are not registered to vote in DC nor do they claim residency. Since they do not live year round in Capital City, they should but out of local matters.

Remember this picture a while back in which the National Women's Lacrosse champions were lambasted over this picture in which several team members were wearing flip-flops? Well the White House has take a more stringent approach on it's dress code.

Let me introduce you to the new west wing dress code:
- No Jeans
- No Sneakers
- No Shorts
- No Mini-skirts
- No T-Shits
- No Tank Tops
- NO FLIP-FLOPS

This dress code is at all of the entrances including the staff, visitor and press entrances.

If people are not happy with the Bush White House after this one, there would be no shock coming from yours truly. But I must ask this. Are we going to see President Bush do a Steve Rubell from Studio 54 and go to the crowd and pick out the tour group? Is he going to approach some eight year old and say, "I'm sorry, you're not cute enough. There is no chance in...you don't even have a haircut, just go home!"

The other thought I had was that maybe the White House staffers were jealous at the fact that they could not dress comfortably. Look for those rules to be thrown out with the next administration and makes the kicker section of your preferred newscast.

BET Wimps Out

I am sure that you have heard by now that BET will be debut a program tonight called "Hot Ghetto Mess." Time for the big ERRRRRRRR. As of this morning's article in "The Washington Post," the name of the show is now called "We've Got To Do Better." That's right, the same network that shows women depicted in a shameful manner, the network that shows the majority of black men as thugs has wimped out in calling tonight's material what it is, a HOT GHETTO MESS.

It is a double standard on the people who are leading the charge against this program call it a racist depiction. You idiots do know that the website and show creator is BLACK! Oh, I forgot, a white guys owns BET, after he bought it from a Black guy who had the same material on, only for 18 hours a day.

I find it appalling that the people behind "What About Our Daughters?" are all of sudden speaking out against BET. Where the hell were they before white-owned Viacom bought BET? Where were they when Robert Johnson owned BET and he refused to provide quality orginial programming, and not just 18 hours of music videos (most of which sucked anyway?) Above all, why aren't they going after the music industry? Those questions I would also propose to the NAACP.

Jam Donaldson, is calling the behavior of some exactly what it is. If you don't like it, modify your attitude.

I was reading my Washington City Paper this week like I normally do when I came across this story about how the "elite" behaves. After I read it, the thoughts of Duke came to mind.

Now before I get read the riot act let's make a couple of things clear. I hate Duke! I can't help it, I'm a rabid Terrapin fan and come next year Towson Tiger fan. Yes, I'm a homer. The lacrosse team should of had their asses kicked by their parents for throwing such a party. The school should have apologized sooner, if they didn't, for rushing to accuse.

I think that Mike Nifong should apologize, but I'm not going to waste any explanation why, especially since he feels that he was right, even until this day. But the fact remains, that girl lied based on the story she told. Her story switched more times than a performer at the Kennedy Center.

These are spoiled trust fund babies.

The girls who are embarrassed by their behavior are amazingly stupid for going back to such a site to do the same thing. If you think that Reed is patrolling this website to protect them, you have got to be kidding me. And of course you can be a conservative and have pre-martial sex...because there is no moral conviction.

This sect of society is making those who are affluent and are trying to do the right thing look bad. I do not believe all affluent people are snooty, spoiled and running wild. I think that they're lifestyles are completely different, but they hold the same values that most people who are not on their level hold which is a secure nation, good families in the like.

This group described in the CityPaper this week, should be shunned for being the "a-holes" that the writer says they are. Rich people cannot do what they want, they have the same limits that everyone else has when it comes to being a respectful member of society.

Black People Do Not Need TV Show To Look Bad

ARLINGTON, VA -- I am sure you have heard by now that BET wants to do a show called "Hot Ghetto Mess" based on a website produced by a DC Legal Aid Lawyer. I am sure you have seen the website by now. Highlighting the low points regarding Black people as far as image. There are a few people who are not happy about the upcoming television show because they say that it makes Black people look bad.

Well I am taking time out my busy work schedule to say that we do not need a television show to tell us that. Just walk down the streets to see who's a hot ghetto mess, and t is not limited to black people. Someone had the brains to point out the people who are making themselves look bad, only this person targeted her own race.

This is the secret fraternity of black people bullcrap that I am waging a war against. Just because it is not publicized, does not mean that it will remain hidden. Television show or not, some Black people look like dammit by choice.

I look back at one of my favorite movies, "Lean On Me," with Joe Clark who singled out such a member of this group "Hot Ghetto Mess," and said that he was an example of how NOT to dress. He added that if you look like that in the morning, find something else to put on. The overall message is have some self-respect.

If people in the famed "Hot Ghetto Mess" category were to have some self respect and take a little bit of pride in their look, then we would not need a website called "Hot Ghetto Mess," let alone a TV show.

As I said on my political blog earlier this week, we Black people overall need to stop acting like there is a secret order of Black People. Just because we try to cover it up, does not mean that other people do not see it.

I was heading into work this afternoon, when I happen to notice something missing on the neighborhood map in L'Enfant Plaza.

They have the memorials highlighted except one...the World War II Memorial. Kind of sad considering that former congressman and resident idiot Bob Barr (R-Ga.) wasted time bullying Metro into to putting the full name of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

His reasoning was people might be thrown off if the map had just said 'National Airport' which was the case many years ago.

Personally, I think it is more important to have the memorial paying tribute to the greatest generation highlighted than having a full name of an airport. Some of the names of metro stations are too bloody long anyway.

Let's Wait And See

Many of my friends know that I am a wrestling fan. One of my favorite guys to watch is Christ Benoit. So it is with that I am shocked to heard about his death. It was surprising that it turned out that he killed his wife and child before killing himself. This is surreal at it's height.

Chris Benoit is someone that you don't hear about in the news, to the point that we did not even know that his wife had filed for divorce back in 2003, and it was later rescinded. Linda McMahon on Good Morning America on Thursday that they seemed happy and that her and Vince had breakfast before the recent Wrestlemania with the Benoit's. We also did not know that his son had a disability, nor that he was receiving steroids because they thought he was undersized.

It is known that there was steroids at the scene, but we do not know if they were a factor for sure in this tragic murder suicide. 'Roid Rage' is possible, but until the toxicology report comes back, we should not rush to judgment on the subject of roid rage. We will not know what was in Benoit's system until that time.

Trooper Put DJ's In Harm's Way

I find it appalling that the punishment handed down to New Jersey State Troopers Fraternal Association President Det. David Jones was incredibly light ("Trooper suspended for actions against DJ," May 23). I am neither defending nor condemning what 101.5 FM radio hosts Craig Carton and Ray Rossi did on the air at WKXW-FM, because at this junction it is moot.

At a radio station where I worked, when the employee contact list was handed out, the instruction was 100 percent clear: Do not release it to the public. That is expressly in order to keep people like Carl R. Grossman of Leesburg, Va., away from media personalities. For those who do not know, Grossman was originally charged with felony stalking after he sent a threatening letter to a DJ in the Washington, D.C., area. He pleaded to a misdemeanor charge while the judge issued a lifetime restraining order.

Carton and Rossi are public figures and it's actions such as those by Jones that can lead to another person becoming the next Grossman. Jones' actions, along with his disrespectful and unrepentant demeanor, show that he deserves more than the five-day suspension slap on the wrist that he actually received. He may not have broken any laws, technically, but he placed a citizen in harm's way, and he threatened to do the same to people not directly involved with the show.

New Broadcasting Experience

The company that I work for, Radio America, is moving out of DC. Why you might ask?....because they are destroying the building they are in now.

Although it is comical to point out to people that are trying to find the building I am in now...well I think a mini-script is in order on this one:

BURNS: Yeah, I'm on 15th and L Streets.

PERSON: Where is that?

BURNS: McPherson Square.

PERSON: OK, I'm on 15th, which building are you?

BURNS: I'm the building that looks like it's being demoed.

PERSON: OH! OK, I'm out front.

Anyway, I went over to our new building in the Ballston section of Arlington, Virginia today. So for those who, have been tracing my radio career since high school (and God bless you if you have) I have done the trifecta as far as this area is concerned. I have worked in broadcasting in the District of Columbia, Maryland and next month...Virginia.

It is the first time I have been apart of any station move to a new building, let alone a whole network. So this is a really geeky excitement for me.

It is a beautiful facility (of which I will be posting pictures soon) and I cannot wait until I move into the facility!

Back on March 30, Two teens in Virginia Beach, Va. were killed by a Drunk Driver. That drunk driver just happened to be an illegal immigrant. That fact had peaked the interest Fox News Channel "Host" and Resident Jake Bill O'Reilly.....who just happened to have Fox News Channel "Reporter" Geraldo Rivera.

Later, WVEC-TV reported that Tessa's Mother, Collete Tranchant, said "It was almost an insult to me and my family; that they would take something they would have a hotspot about and start fighting over this other issue.”

David Kunhardt, Alison’s father, said "To me, it dishonors our children."

To quote Keith Olberman, for the first...and probably the last time, Geraldo Rivera is...THE BEST PERSON IN THE WORLD!!!

Toronto Reporter Lays Smackdown On Optician!

As a reporter, I do not hype stories up. I call it objectively, fair and accurate while reporting…but I am not reporting at this moment. I saw this on CNN and went to the stations’ website and saw every video out of curiosity. This is a great story.

Let me take you to Toronto, Ontario, Canada…for the Homer Simpson’s reading this posting, America Junior.

CITY-TV Reporter Peter Silverman has been helping consumers for a very long time against rip offs and otherwise crooked stuff. For those of you in Washington, Silverman does the type of stories that Ross McLaughlin on Channel 7 does.

This story, believe it or not, begins on October 3 of last year when a man wanted money back for a pair of prescription sunglasses, that were he thought was Oakley, but a month later, he finds out they were not Oakley. To the point, that Oakley themselves said that they were not Oakley. When they went to the store to confront Adam Plimmer, he was quite snug to say the least. But that probably quickly disappeared when the bank credited back the guy’s VISA card for the full amount.

Hold on folks, this gets a lot better than this….

Two weeks later, CITY gets calls about the signs in Plimmer’s store that saw “Free Eye Test.” The problem is that in the province of Ontario, Opticians are not licensed to give eye exams. Plimmer, an Optician, did said eye exam illegal with undercover camera rolling. It cracked me up that the optometrist could not read his scribbling of a prescription. BTW, notice the temper escalating with Plimmer.

Fast forward to December 19, Oakley hires a lawyer and orders Plimmer to stop selling the knock off Oakley’s.

New year, new brand to knock off…Gucci. January 18, A woman got an eye exam (illegally mind you according to the College of Opticians,) and paid money for Gucci frames and prescription lenses that were giving her a headache. Oddly enough, Lorne Lipkus is not just the lawyer for Oakley, but is also a lawyer for Gucci as well. Shocker, Lipkus says they are fake Gucci’s, while Plimmer says they are.

Then this past week…February 7….I preface this by saying that Peter Silverman is 75-years-old. 75-year-old Silverman, who should be following the path of recently retired Maryland Attorney General Joe Curran, went down to Plimmer’s store to talk about the recent complaints about his services. And as you will see, he makes the case of why he should not have to retire. And yes, Silverman responded in a ‘City’-like fashion. Oh, and word to the wise…NEVER EVER TELL THE POLICE ‘F--- YOU.’ Not only did he go after Silverman, but a TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) worker with snowballs.

You can imagine the response this got…T.O. stood up and cheered! Except for one person, which was the only one who said that Silverman ought to be ashamed of himself. A local morning show interviewed him and gave him kudos.

But you have to wonder, signs of Plimmer’s temper was there over these months, Why would Silverman go to this snooty, snug nut job. Well like everything else in life, it starts with a phone call…and a claim that he had found God…along with an invitation to come down to talk things over. Then we get to see more of the attack, which includes spitting and said snowballs. And in case you missed it in the video above, pay attention to his response to Plimmer when he sarcastically asked “Are You Going To Hit Me?”

This weekend, Anderson Cooper picked up on the story for CNN.

And in a major twist, Plimmer changed the name from ‘King West Opticians’ to ‘Adam Paul and Associates.’

I think this is beyond sweeps month, this is just a great story of how one dishonest guy could not handle the pressure of being called to the carpet. Plus I think this is the season of hard as nails reporters, especially after one guy in San Diego was ambushed by a guy with a worse temper than that dork.

Why Don't You Mother .$@%$! War Protrester's Get A Job!

You think I would have a happy blog on a Saturday. Glad I got your attention. I thnk it's known that I am a Moderate and Registered Republican, and I was for the war, but you may not know that I think we should start turning things over to the Iraqi's. But this blog is not about the war, it's about these pesky elite liberals from out of town that makes life for us resident rollers of the Greater Washington/Baltimore Area...inconvenient. Don't worry, I will hit it from all angles.

First and foremost, I had to report to work as early as possible, which means 7:30a.m. because the Green Line starts running at 7:00a.m. I would drive, but I am between cars at the moment, and even if I had one, there is no freaking way I am paying 12 bucks for parking when I don't have to. I get to the gate, and I learned that I had to reload my Smart Trip card. Fine, no big deal. Then I turned around to find the end of the line to get to the fare card machine within two steps. OK, maybe three but whatever.

Metro, you are on notice. I don't want to hear jack crap about fare increase. Everyone knew that the protesters were coming to town. Why there were no trains running before 7:00a.m. I do not get. Neither will I understand why there was only one person explaining how to buy a farecard. You know DC is different from the rest of the country, but I digress.

So I am standing there, the train I needed to catch left the station and this woman in front of me gives the machine $10.00. Now keep in mind most of these war protesters are elite liberal who proabably at the least is holding a Bachelors degree. So you would think they would read the directions first. So dumbass puts the $10.00 in when she only wanted to put five and, shocker, she pushes the 'Done' button, without thinking about it.

The manager comes over and she starts ranting and raving about how much Metro is a rip off. I wanted to ask her "can you at least step aside so I can get ripped off to, some people have to get to work."

You people (protesters) are smart enough to figure out where to hold a protest in DC. You are smart enough to get directions to the Metro station online. BUT YOU CAN'T LEARN THE DAMN METRORAIL SYSTEM AND HOW TO WORK A FARECARD MACHINE IN PERSON OR GET THE INFO ONLINE! Unbe-freaking-lievable.

Oh yes, back to Metro. In case you haven't notice, the region is on the rise. The least you can do is send more frequent trains on the weekend.

Here's a question for everyone....Do we really need four hours of the Today Show? NBC says that it is due to the success of the show and a tribute to all of the hard work of Matt Laurel, Meredith Viera, Al Roker and Ann Curry. And by the way, weren't we all thinking "Please do not hire Ann Curry" when Katie Couric left for CBS.

Do we really need a four hour national morning show? It's bad enough that it's three hours long and they started the trend of having yahoo's in the background, and for the record I do not care which town you come from. When you see the window on the world, do as Dionne and "Walk On By."

The Today Show encompasses all that is evil about morning television. Because they are the top dog, ABC and CBS are taking their shows and doing a cheap imitation of NBC. I would crack FOX, but it's FOX. FOX 5 Morning News, which use to be a show that was an alternative, slipped into the same mold as everyone else. Then there FOX News Channel, but I can't stand that bimbo Steve Doocy.

Thank God for NewsChannel 8. They have what I need and I don't have to sit through Holly Morris, I mean, the street reporter doing something that ultimately makes them stupid.

Saw This Coming Folks

WASHINGTON -- OK, it's pretty darn warm for January. As a matter of fact
it's 70 degrees in Capital City. Meanwhile, Nettie, you poor thing and
the XX feet of snow on the ground out in Denver (by the way, watch Mike
Landess on KMGH, he is such an old school type anchor.)

BTW, you know where this is going. How long did you think it would take
me before I saw someone in summer gear. Actually around 9:00a.m. when I
was coming out of the Red Line as Farragut North this morning coming into
work when I saw a group of dudes wearing shorts.

Then I went to Subway before 12noon to get lunch and saw someone wearing
flip-flops. OK, I cannot stress this enough, it is January. With as many
germs going around , NO ONE should be wearing sandals. I don't care if it
it 70 degrees outside.

That is probably the biggest pet peeve that I have, people dressing out of
season...in public.

Elton John Wants Religion Banned....hmm....

A Reuters report says that Elton John wants religion banned. Specifically he said that "Religion has always tried to turn hatred towards gay people. It turns people into hateful lemmings and it is not really compassionate." It also says in the report that he admired the teachings of Jesus Christ. If he admired the teachings of Jesus Christ, then he would not be gay.

Before you assume that this is another person bashing gay people I am not. I will still treat them the same, but I am sorry, my moral conviction as a Christian prevents me from condoning it.

But homosexuality is a sin nevertheless clearly spelled out. Now I am not going to use the whole Sodom and Gomorrah example. I'm going to use something crystal clear. First I want to use Leviticus 18:22 (this is the new international version) "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." If you are looking for a new testament spin, the latter part of 1 Corinthians 6:9 says that those practicing homosexuality will not inherit the kingdom of God.

One Year Later...

Monday, October 31, 2005...this is the day that my divorce was declared final by the Circuit Court of Maryland for Montgomery County. Thats right, its one year later since that time. I cannot think of a better time to share how I have felt then and how I feel now. I will tell it the only way I know how, honesty, dark humor and in the Maryland tradition...ok the last part sounded good. Please understand that I am not going to share names or identities to respect her privacy. And this is going to be a long blog.

So lets go back to October 11, 2005, the date of the hearing. My sister who many of you know accompanied me to Rockville. My ex-wife filed the papers in Montgomery County, where she moved to when she left me. By the way, typical DC area traffic, not friendly at all. Neither are the people who you first talk to at the courthouse. Can we please mix in some phone manners?

Anyway, got the message through to the courtroom where the hearing was and things were postponed. By the way, we were not trying to operate on CP time; there was more construction between Laurel and Rockville than planned. We finally made it to the courthouse. My sister was my witness and long story short...ABSOLUTE DIVORCE...bitter sweet.

My sister, the ever caring person she was, asked me to step outside while she let my ex know that we still care about her. All I remember walking back to the car that day was that God was not glorified today.

I dont think God is ever happy in a divorce, but I believe he will suffer it certain situations like mine. I get tickled when Christians say that divorce is not mentioned in the Bible. I would read Ezra 10 and Jeremiah 3:8. There are many other references in the Bible about divorce as well.

And lets think about all of those husbands that we hear in the news, that kill their wives or are endangering their lives to the point that its attempted murder. You think someone is going to say to her, stay in it because divorce is wrong. NO, you are going to tell them to save themselves, get out of that marriage.

The decision was entered in by the court master (cant remember the exact title) and it was declared final on October 31, 2005Halloween. I felt abandoned, heart-broken and sad. It was the second time that I had to go through a heart-breaking situation, in which I gave apart of myself to someone and it ended badly. The first one was not so bad. Time heals all wounds and it was a different type of relationship.

This one, I had all intentions on spending the rest of my life with her. I was looking forward to having children with her. I gave her my heart. Now for the second time, it was broken, this time shattered.

After the relationship, I had to re-establish relationship that I disconnected, because I did not want anyone to know what was going on. That she left because she saw something she wanted. That is the nicest way to explain what happened. I was even avoiding my own dad, who was probably wondering how in the world is his only son doing.

Many friends unless they had my email or cell phone did not know how I was, and even if they did make contact, I was lying to cover up the fact that my wife was more than not home.

I was always known as shy and quiet. If I had a date, I bet it would have shocked the hell out of many people in high school during my junior and senior year if I did have a date. By the way, my prom date for the record was more arranged than anything. I would have been happy going by myself and hanging out with friends truth be told. And I still cannot dance that well.

As a matter of fact while I am on shock value, I remember when V found me on myspace and she saw that I was divorced. She sent a message What are you doing divorced? I saw her page for the first time and asked, What are you doing with kids? I was shocked too because now people I know from school are starting to become proud parents. I am still waiting till I closer to 30 or until God says so.

Anyway, once there was closure to my marriage, I felt that I could reconnect with friends I havent spoken to for a long time and more importantly, re-establish my relationship with my dad. Because my parents were separated shortly after I was born and divorced when I was nine, I never had the relationship that I wanted with my dad growing up. Thanks be to God that I have a relationship that I want now. We are talking more and even though I am all over the area these days, I will not hesitate to give my dad a shout on my phone.

So each day, I start coming out of my shell and became more sociable with friends. I knew that had to step one from leaving one extreme from isolationism.

Its also been a tough role on a physical/spiritual level. One thing I am not doing is having sex or anything of the like. Besides the fact that everyone puts a lot of hype into sex, but outside of marriage, sex is too emotionally involved. For me sex is not just physical, but spiritualI have enough problems of my own. I am not going to get tangled into a physical relationship not knowing what my partner has from an emotional or physical health point. Ill just reserve sex for my new wife like The Bible says and the way it should be.

Overall, dating has probably became an even bigger problem for meok, let me be honest; I am not seeing anyone and I havent exactly tried looking. My biggest fear is that I will get my heart smashed again. If I love, I am all in. On top of that, I am afraid that the woman that I do want to at least get to know would not accept me as I am as a friend. I am afraid she will look at my work ethic, my beliefs (morally and politically,) my tastes, my special sense of humor, my issues (because everyone has problems) and reject me. I know that sounds arrogant, but its the truth. At some point, you have to be real in a relationship. And then, I do not want to get involved in a religion war. I want God. That part is non-negotiable.

But it is not all bad though what I went through. Despite the fact that I am overly protecting my heart, the stress of avoiding people is gone and feeling embarrassed is no more. I know that my future is no longer depending on a marriage that someone doesnt want to be apart of, so I am waiting on her to see what she will do. Plus on top of it all, I know that there is a God and he is just for both sides. He will present life and death to you and he will not force your hand. You will have to make a decision.

So I am better off one year later. Through Gods help, my heart has a band-aid on it. I believe that he has healed me, but I am human. In my imperfection, my anxiety about past events might come in and start going into protection mode. That is what I need to work on now. Some might read this and say, youre still hurting. Yes, but the sting is still not as bad. I admit that its not as easy to look at other couples sometimes. But I am steadily overcoming it.

If I can allow one more paragraph, I know this is longer than what I normally write, but I can urge anything. If you want to be married to your husband or wife, stay committed. Arguing over the big piece of chicken or the Pepsi in the fridge is not worth being upset at each other. It is a pretty freaking argument that should be ceased. If you are having a real argument, work it out. You do love each other and care for each other. And above all, you want to be married. Work it out; you will be better for it.

If you are single and you want to be married, dont be picky. Get someone that cares for you...all of you. Dont just get someone because they look good or they screw good. Be married to someone you know in your heart of hearts, that person is the one you are suppose to be married to. God will send you someone you need, not someone you want.

I thank you for reading this if you made it to this paragraph. I havent made any plans to celebrate or commemorate this occasion. I think this blog should be sufficient for the occasion. Many wanted to know, so here you go.

One of the best rap lyrics of all time. Run D-M-C was telling us who they were.

But today I was ask, "What do I call you?" I was schedule to interview a candidate running in Queen Anne's County on Saturday, but I had to reschedule to today. I did not reach him right away, so I left a message with my cell number. When he called back, I was not near my phone.

When I reached him, he told my that my greeting had my first name on it (by the way, it's Paul.) Today when I did the interview, He asked me do I go by Paul or Kenny. It seems like a not big deal question after 16 years.

I started going by my middle name in fourth grade, especially after I got tired of being lumped in with two other Paul's in the class. But things didn't help out at first. There was a wimp named Kenny, but I digress.

So ever since 1990, I have been signing my name with all three names in some variation. Although, now that I am older (and on radio and writing when I can) it is a lot easier to use my middle name. My signature actually has a variation of Kenny, When I write my name I would write P.K. Burns or Paul K. Burns, but lately, I have been using all three when actually writing it out.

The sometime last month, reality had given me a hit...I'm 25 years old, I might want to grow the middle name up when writing it out. So I have been writing P. Kennetn Burns when not using my signature.

Now this burning question, some people call me Paul still, some people call me Kenny. Either way, some people in both groups are asking "So what do we call you now Paul(....or Kenny)?" Stick with what you are use to. I will respond to both. Just don't call me the P-Man, I don't feel good about that at all for obvious reasons. I have come to grips of being called Paul since my elementary school tour (Adelphi Elementary Class of 1993.)

I am thankful that my middle name has been embraced by the various nicknames. Examples include:

-PKB
-K-Dog
-P. Kenny
-P. Kenny B.
-Kenny B.
-P.B. (rarely used if ever)

Radio Genius was more of me embracing something Joe Barber called me one day when I was producing in DC.

We all are named for a reason. Just reading the Bible, each person received a name from God for a reason. So when you have kids, or even more kids, pick you name wisely and in English please. Not necessarily saying that ethnic names are are bad, just don't make any names up, just use a normal name.

So allow me to re-introduce myself, I'm P to the Kizzay...just kidding.

And The Fall Happened....

SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND -- I'm sitting here at my little producer station from the Traffic.com Office over looking the "not so pretty" part of downtown Silver Spring. Believe me folks, stright out the window has a nice view, but if you look directly down, you can see inside of the old Armed Forces recruiting station.

I am doing my normal daily news prepping along with my traffic duties and I notice something on the AccuWeather website. Back at Burns House in Laurel it's 34º at 8:00am. Just to make sure that it's no a fluke, I am looking at television screens and they have 41º in the capital city. The only conclusion that I have came to is that fall has finally hit the free state and DC.

I have noticed a trend over a period of time that I have been a novice weather geek. As soon as it is fall, the weather does a dramatic change. Either of the first day of fall or on the first day after Indian Summer. This year, it was the first day after Indian Summer. I remember this distictively because I was still wearing shorts up until this week. I also know that despite the now cooler weather, there will still be some of you who refuse to believe that it is no longer summer, and will continue to wear sandals and other summer apparel. Be prepared that you are now officially doing that for my entertainment. The only people exempt are athlete's and people exercising.

The other good thing about this time of year is that baseball will happen no matter what. Which means if it rains, the game is still on. Remember that one year the O's opened their season at the yard and it was snowing? I wish I had saved that video. But I digress.

The cold weather also ushers in the coming of the new Basketball season. May Gary have a better season. There is hockey as well, but the season started under my nose. Literally, when they started talking about games, I thought they were talking about the preseason. On that note, it won't be long until ice skating season at Well's in College Park begins. I am planning my ice skate purchase as I speak.

The best thing about this time of year is that DC and Baltimore will start to become even more scenic. Both cities are kind of pastoral, but now the it's like living art. In addition, it will be three months until my birthday (January 14th, buy something nice for ya boy,) Christmas is in just over two months as is my favorite season, Winter.

But staying with fall, it is like our last hurrah to do something outside with comfortable weather conditions before we travel castle to castle to huddle up. Whether we are at home or an indoor event. A time before the weathermen, errr, Meteorologists start giving us the "Kiss You @#$ Goodbye" snow storm forecast. At which point we predictably run to our whips and drive to the nearest grocery store (or in some instances Wal-Mart, be it Supercenter or not) and buy a bunch of junk food like we can never eat it again. And if you don't make it to the Wal-Mart to buy the many cheap DVD's, you go to the nearest Blockbuster or Hollywood Video. Those of you with netflix, sucks for you because you will still have the same movies until the mailman is able to come.

Yes the fall has come, depending on your world view it is a time to celebrate, or a time to dread. But either way, take a note from when Lil' Jon was on MTV Cribs and take in the view.

On Encore this month was Talk Radio starring Eric Bogosian. In case you have no clue, who he is the computer geek bad guy from Under Seige 2. If you like your dark humor, check this movie out. Based on the story of a Colorado Talk Show host who was killed in 1984. Alec Baldwin is also in this, but it's the smack talk of Barry Champlain (Bogosian) that won it over for me.

Baseball Great Buck O'Neil Dies At 94 (details from CBS News.)

If anyone knows me, I am a fan of Baseball, especially and O's fan and now with the National's in DC, I feel that I can cheer on both leagues and proudly represent the region that I am a native of.

I didn't see all of BASEBALL on WETA when it was first aired all those years ago, so I missed when Buck O'Neil told a story about a time where a black man in the Major Leagues were unheard of. Many years later, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in 1947 (next year we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of that occasion.) In 1962, Buck O'Neil broke another barrier, becoming the first black coach in the MLB, with the Chicago Cubs. An event that made me think about Frank Robinson, who recently coached the Washington Nationals and before that the Montreal Expos and Baltimore Orioles.

I didn't hear about Buck O'Neil until a few years ago when he was interviewed by Jim Rome on the radio. I was amazed that he was in his late 80s going into is 90s and very much as active as someone probably 20 years younger.

Buck reminded us that not only that Baseball had a ugly history, but also a proud history. Even with the Negro Leagues, being a living legend, Buck brought the history of that league on equal status with Major League history.

Sadly though, he was one vote shy of making it into the Hall of Fame. Reminding that even though baseball has gotten through the racial barriers, they have a lesson to learn about respecting the past.

I also remember a few years ago, a majority of current Black Major League ball players didn't know who Jackie Robinson was. That is about as equal a downright crime as not voting Buck in to the hall.

Baseball needs to respect ALL of those who have a story to tell about the national pasttime. The majority of baseball players today, regardless of race, care more about their wallets and less about the fans. That's why there were tense moments when the last union contract was discussed. Both sides knew if there was one more strike, America's pasttime would be on equal level as hockey.

One of Buck's quotes from the CBS News article still proves true for any subject: "It's very important that we know our history. We have to do that."

LTTE: Sloppy Preparation

If you want one more reason to criticize Prince George's County Exectutive Jack Johnson, plese read on...

Back in May, I received an "Emergency Preparedness Guide" from the Prince George's County Government. It had useful information such as preparing an emergency kit, what to do when electricity is lost and improtant telephone numbers.

On the last page of this guide, the county was offereing a free mini AM/FM radio to keep with your emergency preparedness kit, if you register for their internet alert service.

So I decided to take the bait and sent off for it as soon as I could because it was for a limited time. They did not publish a cut off date in the guide. I mailed the coupon at the end of May. I finally received the radio last week at the post office after a couple of inquiries between that time.

I opened the package I received to find a cheap AM/FM radio with earbuds. This is not a radio that should be included with an emergency kit. The radio is an equivalent to what a minor sports team would give away.

An emergency radio should be something with a speaker and maybe a quartz digital clock, similar to one I received a few years ago as a travel alarm clock.

The radio that was given away by the county is a joke when it comes to an emergency. Who has the time to waste when it comes to those little earbuds going in your ears and hoping that they would stay put.

The other quirk about the radio, well as far as the one I received, it only picks up FM stations. Thankfully, we are in an area where there is at least one station on the FM band that broadcasts news. If they were still on AM, I would not have received any information being passed.

This is not so much a complaint about the radio, but more of a metaphor about how the look of doing something about public safety is more important to Mr. Johnson, than the details and the actual accomplishment of making citizens feel safe.

The county still has a long road to haul when it comes to preparing for an emergency and other public safety issues. Rehashing the same plan that was ineffective one year prior will not cut it, especially in these post-9/11 days.

Metaphorically, I am not asking for a Grundig so much than I am asking for at least an Emerson when it comes to addressing safety issues in Prince George's County.

Summertime Moratorium Snitching

This one is for the ladies. Unfortunately myspace cannot distinguish between men and women (among other things) so if your a guy, you might agree with me on some of these.

This might be borderline sexist (if not at all) but here is the deal. I am sick and tired of some women not giving a crap about how they look before they leave the house. Since I am in Maryland, the way we solve problems that we don't want to deal with is through a moratorium or by just saying no. So this summer, I am declaring the following two things I am sick and tired of seeing.

1. NO MORE CHINESE SLIPPERS!
Most women where them with everything....STOP THAT! They are not a substitute for a dress shoe or a casual shoe. BTW, if a hole is starting to form, throw them out.

2. FLIP FLOPS.
See above. But I want to particularly focus on the next one.

2a. FLIP FLOPS WITH THE ONE BIG ..@% FLOWER ON TOP.
If you have a pair, these are the four words that should have been told to you long time ago....THEY ARE NOT CUTE!
They never were, never will be. Most of them look like female clown slippers. It's bad enough that you buy the item mention in number 2, the flower or flowers on top do not make it fancier.

Further more, if you know you are going to be in public view for a long time, lotion, vaseline or cocoa butter cream should be your best friend. BTW, white people get ashy too!

Taking care of these items during the summer, will make the world feel better. We don't have to think of creative ways of saying nice stuff, nor do we have to lie to your face. Now you know the truth.

Now as always....If this does not apply to you, then you should not be offended.

Very Busy Weekend

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- I am freaking pooped. In the past couple of days, I did two morning shows, live reports from the Maryland Martitime Heritage Festival (picture with Coastie coming soon) and I met five of the U.S. Senate candidates in Maryland.

My house is looking so good right about now. I've been meaning to add some pics so look for some for then and now (hopefully more now.)

Oh lest I forget, those of you in Carroll County, I pop up every now and then on WTTR Oldies 1470 whenever state news breaks out over the weekend (am I a plug whore or what.)

TOWSON is TIGERRRRIFFIC!

This past Friday, I broke away from the heart of Central Maryland to attend Towson University's Open House.

I would also like to point out that not only do I think I was the oldest person there, I know for a fact that I was one of the few black people in attendence (ok, I only saw three or four others if I can be completely honest.)

Towson is on the rise and I am lookig forward to transferring there sometime next year.

But as always in my cracked front view, I have to point out a couple of things....

1. four minutes into the official program, a cell in the audience goes off. This must stop. If you are going to a public function, do all of us the courtesy and shut your phone off or to vibrate. I went to Handel's Messiah this past Holiday season and during the opening prayer..."brrrrr." STOP THAT! Shut your phones off please.

2. One Hour and Forty-Eight Minutes in the the official program, someone asked about what the worse part of Towson. As usual, softball answer comes from the Student Ambassadors.

Two minutes later..."The Alkiehol Question" Much to my surprise Towson was a wet campus. You would think that UMCP would have screwed the rest of the state.

So if you are like me, disgruntled about the DC Area, move up to Baltimore, hon and go to Towson, but do me a favor, wait until atleast 2009. I want my chances of getting in to be good (not that I'm worried about that ;-) )

BRENT GOT HOSED (I'm talking Apprentice here)

Was watching The Apprentice this past Monday as Synergy continued to alienate Brent. Now I know that it's a game, but somethings are just wrong. I felt he got screwed when Staci went back to the meeting a couple a weeks ago and told her teammates that Brent was all over her which was not the case. All he did was stand up for himself and he was right to do so.

But Staci convinced the spoiled rich schnots that Brent attacked her and that she's scared of him. Two things, first and foremost, if that was a true attack the producers I'm sure would have said something. The other thing was that the Donald was right, she is a prosecutor. She has to deal with people a whole lot scarier than that teddy bear.

So from then and there the spoiled brats club decided to alienate Brent and not trust him with anything or give him busy work without giving him a chance.

I will say this about Brent. He did not handle the boardroom the best way possible. He should have used some restraint, I know e has a little drama background but jees.

Anyway, these spoiled brats were losing not because of Brent directly, but because they were worried about Brent and how he would act. Not one of them gave him a chance and that outright pisses me off.

I'm cheering for Gold Rush now, with the exception of Tarak because he is clearly overrated. I hope there is no one in Synergy left after this week (except for those moved over from Gold Rush).

ARNOLD, MARYLAND -- Now I have said over time that there I don't think that everything marketed towards and things that are for black people are not always good for black people. I also have been accused of being an uncle tom, but I digress.

BET was has been my constant whipping child for the past seven years. They have constantly have made an effort not to balance the image of Black people in this country. From the 12 hours of music videos per day, to the endless infomercials on Sunday and the nothingness that they call a news department.

Tuesday, took the cake. I my personal opinion, I thought that it was an insult that they didn't at least carry the pool coverage of the woman that very well fought for their right to help distort the image of black people, yes I am talking about the Funeral for Coretta Scott King.

A network with resources to include one of the best news departments in the world, all they had to do was tap into the CBS Newspath coverage and they would have been great. Oh, the cross promotional possibilities between CBS and BET, it would have gained some positive reviews.

But unfortunately for us, they opted for "alternative" programming. You have to stop think and wonder, why do young black people not know about Martin Luther King, Jr. and Jackie Robinson and other black people. Well let me give you a hint, you can't blame whitey this time!

It is our own people screwing ourselves by taking for granted the freedoms and liberties that we have today, that our ancestors fought and died for and only wished that they had then.

Shame on us for that and shame on BET for not being all they should have been by now.

Here is my two cents regarding Cindy Sheehan. Personally I don't care what the t-shirt said at this point, she should have been removed from the gallery, just because, and I will explain.

I do not recalled if it was ever discussed anywhere, but what about the fact that she is desicrating the very memory of her son by the very way she is acting. Her son made a personal decision to join the army, knowing all that it entailed.

I think the fact that she has shown a very unstable behavior pattern as of late and someone that dangerous should not be near the President.

I thought she was personally targeted, because she was Cindy Sheehan. Lucky for President Bush, the rules of the gallery worked in his favor, hence her ejection.

I think the majority of us are tired of watching her make a idiot out of herself, embarassing her family and most importantly, her fallen son. Now thanks to her, we will be taking another two weeks to talk about this foolishness.

Why the National Weather Service sucks!

This morning, the National Weather Service issued a dense fog warning for the Greater Washington and Baltimore Areas from 3-11AM. Well in the middle of the night, they decided that it was not necessary for the majority of the area, so they limited is to the area around the bay, east of DC. Fog is fog and from most of the camera's that I've seen, they should have left the original intents intact.

Why did PG liquor board let strip club move to Laurel?

I am perplexed that the Prince George's County liquor board would not only see reason to move the Stardust Inn strip club to a place experiencing a development boom, but that the board would allow it to move within the direct vicinity of a church.

The other insulting fact, never mind the political connections between the county and the owners involved, is that the club plans to expand operations to include day-time hours.

That the liquor board did not consider the feelings of the church and the community is also insulting. And in a sign of true insensitivity, the board, according to a Washington newspaper, stated as a special condition of the Stardust Inn moving to Laurel that it help the church move to another location.

Did the board consider if the church actually wanted to move from its current location? Did the board even let residents in nearby Laurel communities know about the move?

I do not want any strip club to move next door to a church; for anyone to approve such a move is disrespectful. But I especially do not want a strip club or any establishment that has a questionable past to move to Laurel.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY CHANUKKAH

Imagine my surprise when my friend Gayle pointed out that Chanukkah and Christmas fell on the same day. From my current limited knowledge of Judaism, their holidays begin at sunset, which means that we would literally go from one holiday to another since most people stop the Christmas celebrations after sunset.

Which brings me to my next point, conservatives might want to start paying attention right here. There is a book out there called "The War of Christmas" which has became a lightning rod for conservatives and "christians" to declare that it's Christmas and nothing else.

And this time class, I want to talk about, ignorance. The ignorance of conservatives and "christians" who think that there is a war on Christmas. There is no war on Christmas. In 2005, political correctness has ran amuck in regards to the holiday season. Phrases that have been said since I was a lad are coming into question.

The only holiday that I don't get is Kwanza, which is real sad considering that I'm black and our family has never celebrated it, but I digress.

So, who do I blame for conservatives and "christians" running amuck...Target. I'm not just saying that because I am a former Wal-Mart employee, but the day me and Gayle met up, we saw a Holiday Tree and Holiday Moments. I had to ask when was the last time her family had a tree for Chanukkah. But I blame the marketing genius at Target, who had the brilliance to think that maybe including the Jews on the Christians action in regards to having a tree for their holiday would be fun since this year, the two holidays are on the same day.

Well sorry Target genius, the Lutherans learned that lesson hundreds of years ago when Martin Luther went to them and said "Sorry about how the Catholics treated you, you can join my church." Then the Jews said "No, thans for the invite, but we are happy about who we are." Oddly enough, Martin Luther decided to join the Catholics in hating the Jews at that time. I don't think it was a anti-Christmas cleansing, just marketing gone wrong.

Now you may have noticed that when I mention Christians in this rant I did it in quotes. That's because I am refering to the fundamentalist "christians" who are suppose to love God and his principles of loving everyone, but they are the least tolerant of any one, just watch Fox News Channel or listen to Conservative Talkradio, they seem motre hateful than the liberals.

So the bottom line, leave the Jews alone,"christans" just for one month be tolerant of other peoples feelings (and you wonder why people avoid you), leave the holidays separate when trying to make money, Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukkah, Happy Freaking Holidays and Season's Greetings! If President George W. Bush cann say Happy Holidays, so can the rest of you dumb stupid ignorant conservatives and "christians." I also like to point you that it was you "christians" that voted President George W. Bush into office and want the rest of us to follow and support him. Well?

SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND -- Greetings and Happy Thankgiving! I coming to you from beautiful and quiet downtown Silver Spring doing what every normal American does on this day...work. There is certainly a lot of things that each of us can be thankful for this year. The disaster survivors can be thankful that they were able to escape nature's wrath, many of them can say that they're who family is safe. Some are thankful that they're first foray into their dreams are succesful (I know of at least one other person that can say that other than me, they know who they are.) And then there are those who are thankful that they are still viable and alive in someway shape or form.

I'm sure all of us can relate to the latter, but no matter who you are or where your side, let's thank God for at least one thing over the past year. The losses might seem bigger, but I can assure you that the gains are much bigger and plentiful.

OK, I have been trying to finish my four year degree since 1999 (yes I know, I am sort of taking my time.) Time to kick things up a notch. For a successful transfer, I will need to push through 2006 so I will be ready by the spring of 2007 when I transfer to Towson Univeristy. In usual fashion, I want to make a big deal out of this on this website so Monday, November 28, 2005, I am launching KENNYBURNS.COM TOWSON 2006. The Past Is Wonderful.

I recently met up with Nadia at the Takoma Park Film Festival. Back to the story, I asked her at one point, do you remember so and so? She would say no and then prod me about why do I care or think about these people. I would reply someone had to. Then she said that it was in the past and I should move on adding that more than likely they are not thinking about me. Well, it's not the first time this was brought about. Other people ask why do I think about the past. Well, here is an answer for everyone. Because the past was better.

Now don't get me wrong, Somethings from the past I would definately do without, but as far was the good times That's why I hold on. Let's be honest, first and foremost the toys were better. The toys they have now, kids are being sent to school 24 hours a day it seems like as far as television programs and toys. Back then, Toys made us think because we had to use our imaginations. My Buddy, Kid Sister, Legos, not like the interactive learning crap that comes out now.

The music was a hundred times better. There hasn't been a new male artist that has sung a decent love song since 1998, maybe 1999. The most singing that you will even get is maybe the female hook in a bama hip hop song. The women are begging for a man, before then they were just asking us to be treated right.

Staying on the subject of women, they dressed better overall back then. I preference this by saying if the following does not apply to you, you should not be offended. These days, girls are running to the chance to show their t-n-a's off. It's a shame that they are leaving themselves open to be violated by these perverted bastards with the cell phone cameras. I always seem to ask myself if they have any respect for themselves so they don't leave themselves open.

Well, those are the three main categories that I can think of off the top of my head. Plus I'm a nostalgic at heart, I can't help loving the old stuff. Even though the good parts of the past will have a place in my heart, I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

Tooling around the internet last night and I visited the website of New Jersey 101.5 last night, and I saw the words that I have not seen on there in five years....LISTEN LIVE!!!!

It's kind of funny that me being the Marylander that I am, never lived in New Jersey, but I do have family up there, speaking of which, Hello Aunt Connie, Uncle Duane and \Janessa and Janaye.

But this station had a better oldies playlist than a certain station in DC (emphasis on DC) and it was a nice escape to hear a better sounding radio station. Then all of a sudden, the union started charging more for commercial talent fees and caused a bunch of radio station to leave the webcasting alone.

But it's good to have New Jersey 101.5 back on the internet for those who more identify themselves with the northern region of the Mid-Atrlantic...in fantasy at least.

As you can tell, I am no longer the Sunday Afternoon host for 1430 WNAV. For the most part, I traded in my DJ hat for a News Fedora. I am now doing the Sunday MOrning news on 1430 WNAV in addition to swing announcing.

Also please bear with me as I continue to transform this website and my sister website burnsmedia.net. Now that I am starting to build the facilities that I need to work from home (sans ISDN line for right now) I hope to make some great stuff real soon.

Desiree, if you are reading this blog, I received your card and will be sending a letter soon. It was a really nice card and oddly enough earlier that week I was speaking at a function talking about how "Thank You" is carelessly tossed about. I'm very big on them and I also want to return the favor and and say "Thank You" to you.

I figured that would get your attention. I also have to be midful that I
will have to change the banner on the front page soon at say following
Redskins Radio. PLease pray that we have a better season. Ramsey, don't
punk out now, you actually have an even handed shot for the starter's job.

I am actually close on having an opening theme...yes a theme to let you know
that the show has officially started. And shocker, it is a Swing Out Sister
song. I actually was going to go with something more upbeat, but I figured
it was a Sunday show and that whole CBS News sounder at the topis enough of
an adreniline rush.

Also check this out, In about about a week, the return of the scholastic all
sports page following CBS Sports Central USA. Still learning the sports
scene in Anne Arundel And Queen Anne's Counties so bear with me. Also would
like to give a shout to the High Point Eagles of Beltsville, Prince George's
County...Go Eagles, don't choke. I would like to see another run for the
playoffs like I did my Junior year.

I know it's been a while since I have written in this thing, but please
forgive me I have other important things to do, like have a life and work
and be a normal person and not connected to some stupid internet blog
chronicling every breath that I breathe. Do you thing you can pry yourself
from a computer for a few minute so we can have a decent conversation?!

Anyway, This months is a milestone for any one, three years at a retail
store. As many of you know, my day job is in Wal-Mart's Accounting Office.
Three years is a millenium in the retail industry and based on the fact that
there is one other person in my store that was in my orientation, it's a
blessing and a blooming miracle at the same time.

And how about Luther Vandross dying. Thaty one was a shock. He is easily
on my list of the most talented musical artists in the world. Luther is a
renegade in my book, because he wanted to appeal to everyone while being
himself. I was reading The Baltimore Sun this morning and the appreciation
was noting how even though Luther was a household name in the black
community he was frustrated that he had not become a mainstream star. He
said that he just wanted more success but he did not want to start wearing
blond wigs to appeal to anyone. He was saying in an AP interview the
article was referring to that he was the voice who sang Pepsi, Coke and NBC
'Proud as a Peacock' and he did not see a reason that the music shouldn't
have gone to No. 1.

Luther achieved the mainstream success in 1990 with Here and Now and has not
turned back since then. He is an extremly talented singer who music I
encourage you to look and listen for then and now. Luther, you will be
missed and thank you for the music and talent that you had shared with us
over the years.

SILVER SPRING, MD -- This past Wednesday, I took off into the wild blue
yonder for the very first time ever. Now I know what you are thinking, why
so late to fly in life? Well, that's because there was never a need to fly
before I started working for TrafficPulse.

So sometime before 6:30am this past Wednesday, I took off over the friendly
skies over Washington and did not lose one bit of lunch in the process.
Plus the fact that I made a vow not to eat anything on the days I will be
flying.

We flew over the Beltway, 66 and the Dulles Toll Road. It was absolutely
breathtaking the sites that I saw, nevermind the fact that we were at FedEx
field within five minutes of take off. I also got a sky-eye view of my old
schools Buck Lodge Middle School and High Point High School (class of 99,
what). BTW looking down at High Point, did not do justice on how steep that
hill down to the baseball field really is.

It was definately an enjoyable time in the air and I will more than likely
be doing it more often.

BTW, I go up again this Monday Afternoon, and I hear it is a bumpier ride.

SILVER SPRING, MD -- Well another week has come to an end and what a week it was. First and foremost, Swing Out Sister will be here in a little over a month (pondering on which date to go to.) Radio presence is getting better and I start school in a little less than two weeks from now on the 23rd.

Tomorrow, I will be doing a bee line from the station over to the college. Especiwally since this week is going to be 10% off. If I had known how Student Loans had worked, I would have finished school by now.

This weekend I will be filling in for Greg tomorrow morning (Saturday) and then on Sunday, I'll be on the air after Orioles Baseball. BTW, who would ever thought that they would be swinging it like they are this year. The O's are doing good, the Nats are doing good...and the one year I boycott the Wizards because of Abe Polin, it looks like they are about to sweep the Bulls out of the first round playoffs.

9 is now easy on the eye

This week, our CBS station WUSA-9 debuted their new set that is suppose to emphasize that they are now broadcasting in HD. Keep in mind, that I used to watch Channel 9 on a regular basis growing up, but ever since they started messing with what was once a solid product, I was one of many that made the exodus to elsewhere.

Even though I do not have an HD set and will be far from getting one, the video quality has took a major upgrade. That was the other thing, before this past Monday, 9's video quality has been crap for about the past six years or so and that was in standard def. Channel 4, great video quality which has something to do that they were always owned by NBC. Channel 7, well that video quality improved during the late 90s. 5, good video quality but not great, the same case as Channel 7.

But when that new set debut on 9 this past Monday, Gannett actually broke the bank (spent money). That set is easliy the best looking news set in DC. Their newscast is still to be desired (I'm sorry I was always a Gordon Peterson and Maureen Bunyan person) but at least watching that messy product is now a lot nicer to look at and more attractive.
